Outlander fans have less than a month to catch the first season before it leaves Amazon Prime Video for good.
The popular historical fantasy drama, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling series, originally aired in 2014.
The story follows World War Two medic Claire (Caitriona Balfe) who is transported 200 years into the past while honeymooning with her husband Frank (The Crown’s Tobias Menzies) and falls in love with a dashing Highlander, Jamie (Sam Heughan).
The mystical show set in both the 18th and 20th centuries has amassed a devoted fanbase over the years as season seven comes to an end, with the eighth and final season expected to come out by the end of 2025.
But for UK viewers hoping to do a rewatch ahead of the season seven finale this Friday, January 17, or for those keen to catch up as the franchise looks towards a final outing – we have bad news.
Season one, which secured an impressive 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, will no longer be available to watch under solely a Prime subscription from the end of January.

The first season has sixteen episodes and a 92% score on RT (Picture: AP)
That means viewers have less than 30 days to watch the first 16 episodes of the show before having to buy an additional MGM+ subscription.
Seasons two to seven have already moved over to MGM+, so are only available to watch with the Prime add-on (coming in at a further £4.49 a month).
There has been plenty of praise for the show over the years, with fans dubbing it ‘addictive’, ‘excellent’ and ‘one of the best shows they’ve ever seen’.
‘YES, YES and YES! This show is superb! Every time a new season comes out I binge-watch it that weekend! One of my all-time favs!’ RT user HJ M wrote in a review.
‘What is there not to love? Amazing talented cast.!! Incredible chemistry between the two main lead actors, Sam, Heughan, and Caitriona Balfe. Gorgeous cinematography all taking place in Beautiful Scotland. what a story!!!’ user W. L echoed.
‘Love season 1. Outlander is my favourite series. It’s so good. Watched it at least 10 times in the past 4 years,’ Lina D praised.

The latest season is set during the American Revolutionary War, with the penultimate episode ending on a major cliffhanger.
And Scottish actor Sam has gained a reputation as a TV heartthrob, even teasing Travis Kelce about stealing Taylor Swift away when she arrived in Edinburgh last year for her Eras Tour.
The show was confirmed for an eighth season in January 2023.
Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for Starz, said at the time, per Variety: ‘For nearly a decade Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion.
‘But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story.’
Outlander season one will leave Prime Video in the next 30 days. All seven seasons will then be available to watch on MGM+ through a subscription.
