WWE SmackDown superstar Chelsea Green has admitted she still ‘gets the ick’ over a key part of her presentation on screen.
The inaugural and current Women’s United States Champion had to re-record the ‘Chelsea Green’ opening to her entrance video, mimicking former ring announcer Samantha Irvin’s special introduction.
‘When they told me I had to re-record my entrance theme and I had to do the “Chelsea Green”, that’s something you will now be hearing on Friday nights, and that is very cringe worthy,’ she exclusively told Metro.
‘Anyone who get gets the ick, just know I got the ick first while I was recording.’
The awkward feeling has continued over the past few months, and the root of the 33-year-old star’s embarrassment is her struggle watching and listening to herself.
‘Every time in my entrance, I still am like, “Oh, I hate that”. It’s my voice, but that’s just me. I can’t watch myself. I can’t listen to myself. That is just totally a “me problem”. I should probably go to therapy for that,’ she quipped.

Despite her own awkward feelings over her version of the introduction, she knows that Samantha’s unique inflection was a perfect fit for her Karen-style persona.
‘When I lost that entrance for a few weeks, if not two months, it took a little chunk of my soul away from me, my wrestling soul,’ she admitted earnestly.
‘Imagine if we took away “Yeah” from LA Knight. I’m not saying he’s left with nothing. He’s still a talented WWE superstar with so much going for him.
‘But it’s him, and for me, that is me, that obnoxious entrance and arrival and everything in the name. It’s me to a tee.’
