The second season of a ‘crazy’, action-packed thriller has finally dropped on Netflix, and viewers have already rushed to binge all episodes.
The Recruit premiered in 2022 and followed To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo as lawyer Owen Hendricks, whose life is instantly flipped upside down when he starts working for the CIA.
Far away from Peter Kavinsky, Noah’s Owen finds himself plunged into complex international conflicts almost immediately, leading him into dangerous situations that are beyond his control.
For those of us who are already having withdrawals from the Night Agent, the second season of Recruit is here to fill that void, with all six episodes dropping today.
It picked up directly after the events of the season one finale cliffhanger, with the synopsis teasing more trouble in store for Owen and co.
The official synopsis reads: ‘Season two of The Recruit finds CIA lawyer, Owen Hendricks pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.’

Despite the new episodes only dropping on Netflix a matter of hours ago, dedicated fans have already blitzed through the new series, and flocked to social media to rave about the drama.
Reddit user OddOne402 praised: ‘This season 2 was craaazy!! Watched it literally the minute it aired in one go. The plot moves really, really fast, everything changes in minutes.
‘I really hope the way it ended we will get the 3rd season and that it will not take them 3 years to make it. Overral, it is for sure better (for me, at least) than the 2nd season of Night Agent [sic].’
MyNameIsGreyarch wrote: ‘I am only three episodes in, and this season is already one of the best things that Netflix has ever made. The pure chaos. The brilliant writing. The great humor, and the phenomenal action. It’s just [mwah] chef’s kiss.

‘The episode count might look low, but trust me when I say that halfway through episode two I realized that it’s going to be the sweet spot to ends things…
‘Three episodes to go, though. So a lot might still go wrong. But somehow I highly doubt that.
‘Ay, yo. Netflix. Give everyone working on that show a raise, will ya?’
‘Oh man this was pure fun. Really enjoyed the ending too,’ Dooraven said.

Over on Twitter, Archi Sengupta agreed: ‘Just watched #TheRecruit2 on #Netflix and regardless of the cliched nature of the series, it pulls off one helluva entertainer.
‘It also doesn’t help that #NoahCentineo is at his charming best!’
Indie Wire’s David Opie added: ‘I enjoyed #TheRecruit s2 even more than the first season. So silly, entertaining and endlessly charming, the 6 episodes fly by so fast.
‘My beloved Teo Yoo kicks ass and Noah Centineo grounds the absurdity of it with a smirk and a grin (and a surprise naked scene v early on).’

The Recruit currently boasts a Rotten Tomatoes score of 84% from impressed viewers, compared to a critics ranking of 68%.
With the second series picking up immediately after that season one cliffhanger, Noah recently shed light on how his character was feeling going into the new episodes.
‘Owen’s headspace is complete chaos,’ Noah teased of his character. ‘He has just witnessed Max — the former CIA asset whom he almost died multiple times trying to protect — get shot by her daughter Nichka.
‘Owen is wondering how in the hell he is going to survive the next few seconds of his life.’

‘This show lives in propulsion,’ creator Alana Hawley added to Netflix. ‘So we immediately throw Owen in the deep end, which is where he’s the most fun.
‘It seemed like a great way to start season two — and then we just never let our foot off the gas.
‘Owen knows that if he does not walk away with a win this season, his career is going to be over. He might go to prison.
‘Depending on what people are into, they can show up this season for the big, flashy, splashy action stuff, but they can also be on a journey with this guy who’s just trying to fix something that he broke.’

The Recruit season 2 is available to stream on Netflix now.
