Macy Gray just likes to get her chill from ‘cocaine and a couple of shots’.

The 00s legend behind banger I Try is currently appearing on MTV’s The Surreal Life which follows eight celebrities who are forced to live together and unpick their past.

Joining Macy in the reality series is Tom Hanks’s son Chet Hanks, Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke and Teen Wolf heartthrob Tyler Posey.

Macy has been less receptive to some of the therapeutic practices though.

When the cast were whisked off to the mountains to improve their breathing work which included ‘consciously over breathing’, Macy wasn’t having any of it.

‘I live in LA, that’s hippy kingdom, but for healing that’s not how I do it.’

Asked how she would choose to heal instead, she candidly said: ‘Like cocaine and a couple of shots.

‘Get those edibles down my throat and I’m good, girl! You order me a pizza and I’m straight. I don’t need all that s***, I’m good.’

Fans were understandably stunned by the comments.

‘I can’t believe Macy Gray said this on national television,’ Mr MJoyA wrote on X, which was echoed by Becca who added: ‘I’m SCREAMING.’

Syrensantiagoxo tweeted: ‘the way she was dead ass serious lol I respect the honesty.’

While viewers are laughing hard at Macy’s brashness, her co-stars weren’t always as enthused.

She told US Weekly: ‘I wasn’t really expecting a lot of emoting and talking about our feelings.

‘I just wasn’t really in that headspace when everybody else was I guess.

‘A lot of times, they would set us up to get all emotional and maybe disagree a little bit. Me and Tyler went at it a couple of times actually.

‘I just remember wanting to have fun and just bulls*** around and then everybody got heavy.

‘Tyler is very open so he’s always ready to get deep and stuff. Sometimes, I’m just not up for it.

The Surreal Life airs on MTV.
