A prolific Hollywood actor who first soared to fame in the 1990s has revealed his latest role – and he’s truly barely aged in 30 years.

In 1999, Jude Laws career went on a stratospheric rise after he appeared in the chilling thriller The Talented Mr Ripley, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

The now-51-year-old has since appeared in a variety of huge TV shows and films, including beloved Christmas rom-com The Holiday and the action-packed Sherlock Holmes.

Having previously appeared in Marvel’s Captain Marvel and the Fantastic Beasts film series, he’s now embarking on a new franchise adventure in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew – and a first look at the upcoming TV series has now been revealed.

Taking place in the same time period as the hugely popular Disney Plus show The Mandalorian, Skeleton Crew will follow a group of children who go on a journey to return home after getting lost in the galaxy.

Jude leads the cast as Force-user Jod Na Nawood, who’s seen interacting with the kids in the first look images before fans have a chance to watch any footage.

There were some Star Wars fans who admitted that they weren’t looking forward to the TV show, with some appearing to insinuate that their disappointment was down to it looking as though it was being geared at kids.

In response to that, others pointed out that at its core, the franchise is often aimed at a younger audience, with Time magazine reportedly writing in 1977: ‘It’s aimed at kids – the kid in everybody.’

Speaking about his role in Skeleton Crew, Jude hailed his child co-stars, telling People: ‘I had a wonderful time making this with everyone involved.

‘Those four in particular who worked with me very closely were just great fun and incredibly professional, and I’m immensely proud to be a part of their crew.’

Series co-creator Jon Watts added: ‘Because he’s with the kids all the time, he’s also kind of felt like the co-director, co-producer with us and he’s co-acting coach, you know, giving the kids tips, and they would look to him. He really became sort of a mentor figure to the kids as well.’

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is due to premiere on December 3 on Disney Plus.
