Amazon Prime Video fans have been binge-watching an ‘outstanding’ thriller that has woefully flown under the radar.
The Last Hour revolves around the life of a mysterious shaman who can talk to the spirits of dead people Devi (Karma Takapa).
The Indian supernatural series sees Devi’s talents deployed to help solve the investigation into the brutal rape and murder of an actress.
He communicates with her soul and relives her last hour in order to amass clues to crack her killer’s identity.
However, Devi’s life is also under threat as he is being hunted down by a dangerous figure from his past.
Viewers who have devoured the Hindi-language series have labelled The Last Hour ‘criminally underrated.’
Fans praised the ‘unique’ storyline and ‘brilliant’ acting (Picture: Amazon Prime)
Among them is Reddit user RaatKiRaaani, who said: ‘Such a unique show it was, I remember watching it waay back. It’s criminally underrated they need to bring another season ASAP it has great potential.’
Echoing their sentiment, Google user Astha Arunika raved: ‘Soul-soothing, beautiful and what not!! It will give you a different experience overall. Everything was so perfect about this series, such a perfect cast. Loved every character.’
D Singh: enthused ‘Outstanding!!! Fully enjoyed watching it! Very rich storyline, much thoughtfully created, the idea and art of using native actors so smoothly has got the best out of this production.’
Mahasweta Sen added: ‘I loved the series. Always a sucker for thrillers, The Last Hour presented a unique combination of a slow burn thriller, intense acting, simmering and unexpressed passion, out of the world cinematography, supernatural element, the mystic of the hills and it’s clouds & fog, a who-dunnit story, time travel and an over riding eerie feeling. Perfect for a late night watch and all the more better if it’s raining.’
Amazon Prime Video fans have been bingeing comedy Harlem (Picture: Emily V Aragones/Prime Video)
The Last Hour is not the only Amazon Prime Video series gripping viewers.
They have also been watching hit comedy Harlem – which boasts a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score.
The show follows four friends who met while attending university in New York and are now all in their 30s, living in the titular neighbourhood.
‘Shows with the basic “friend group face career and romance problems in the city” can so easily be bland and tired… but this one is genuinely entertaining,’ said DK on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Spanish Princess has also been thrilling Amazon Prime fans (Picture: Nick Briggs)
Elsewhere, TV fans have been recommending a ‘must-see’ historical drama about one of King Henry VIII’s wives.
Based on the novels The Constant Princess and The King’s Curse by Philippa Gregory, The Spanish Princess is a sequel to the miniseries The White Queen and The White Princess.
Running for two seasons, which aired in 2019 and 2020, it stars Charlotte Hope as Catherine of Aragon, the titular princess who was crowned the Queen of England when she married King Henry VIII, played by Ruairi O’Connor.
‘The Spanish Princess is the ideal period soap, dexterously and intelligently balancing the webby intrigue of 16th century court life with the dewy eroticism of a classic melodrama. There’s no guilt here. Just pleasure,’ The Hollywood Reporter wrote in its review.
The Last Hour is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
