BBC viewers have been captivated by the brand new drama series The Jetty but fans have one major issue with the smash hit show.
Doctor Who legend Jenna Coleman leads the star-studded cast in a twisting tale as Detective Ember Manning, who is investigating an arson case in her home town.
While many have already been praising the 38-year-old actress, who recently revealed that she’s pregnant, there is one complaint cropping up constantly.
As the first of four episodes aired on the BBC tonight (July 15), viewers shared on X they were struggling to understand anything the cast was saying.
Many said they had resorted to turning on subtitles when they didn’t usually need them to combat the ‘mumbled’ words.
‘Am I the only one finding #TheJetty hard to pick up?’ asked Holly Munn. ‘Is it the sound? The accents? Are they mumbling?’

‘Thank f**k it is not just me that is struggling. I turned it off. Incoherent mumble bollocks. Good luck to the rest of you sticking with #thejetty – load a sh*te,’ vented Liam T.
In another tweet, he said: ‘If anyone can understand a f**king word anyone is saying then either I am batsh*t deaf or you have supersonic hearing.’
Antrojak added: ‘I can’t understand what anyone’s saying and no idea what’s going on, apart from that it’s it’s fine.’
Jack O Newbury joked: ‘I might stand a chance of figuring out the plot if they’d just stop mumbling. I’m getting about 25% of the dialogue so far.’
‘Can’t understand what they’re saying,’ complained Pete Knox as Kathrin and Joe Crayston simply said: ‘Subtitles on.’

However, some people didn’t appear to have the issue as Oli wrote: ‘Am I the only one who doesn’t have any issue with the sound quality?’
Unfortunately for the show, some viewers seemed to be tapping out of the show as sound issues conflicted with a plot and cast that failed to grab the audience.
One particularly shocking moment saw a young, pregnant teenage drop from a roof onto the detective’s car.
Another depicted another school-age girl ‘tossing off’ a horse, in a self-confessed ‘gross’ display seemingly to psyche out her friend.
The BBC described The Jetty as ‘as much a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller’.

The next episode will air on July 16 at 9pm (Picture: BBC/Firebird Pictures/Ben Blackall)
The series ‘asks big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory, in the places that Me Too has left behind’.
Detective Manning begins to reflect on her own relationship with her late husband as she suspects a man is targeting underage girls.
Speaking about the show, Jenna said: ‘Working with BBC and Firebird Pictures on bringing the complex and enigmatic character of Ember Manning to life has been an incredible experience.
‘I can’t wait for everyone to meet this new heroine and to find out what’s lurking beneath the surface of The Jetty.’
The Jetty episode two will air tomorrow (July 16) at 9pm and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
