Kid Rock has shocked BBC viewers after ‘hitting on’ a stunned presenter live on air in the build-up to Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The Picture musician, real name Robert James Ritchie, has been a long-time supporter of the controversial politician, who is returning to the White House today.

As a string of surprising stars are set to perform on the big day – after Snoop Dogg sparked huge backlash for his set at the Crypto Ball in DC – the 54-year-old appeared in an interview with Caitríona Perry to discuss how he would be spending the historic day.

However, things took an extremely bizarre turn when he asked what the BBC host’s plans for the day included, to which she replied: ‘I’m standing on a rooftop in these very, very chilly conditions.

‘We’ll be on air for 11 or 12 hours so I don’t think I’ll have anywhere near as fun a day as you have planned for yourself there, that sounds like you got the better deal indeed.’

‘I can’t see you right now so I don’t know what you look like,’ Kid Rock replied, while brandishing a cigar.

Attempting to get things back on track, Caitríona remained professional as she laughed: ‘I look like I’m ready to hit the slopes, I can tell you.

‘I’m in full-on ski gear here with my hat, gloves, the whole thing. Ready to rock because you’ve got to be wrapped up against the elements, don’t you?’

It was then that the singer turned the interview on its head, responding: ‘I love to go skiing… You sound sexy, do you want to go with me?’

Clearly baffled, the host took a second before calmly replying: ‘Well, we won’t get into that around here… We’re doing no skiing today, we’ve got a day of broadcasting to do.

‘But Kid Rock, thank you so much for joining us here on BBC News. Enjoy your day.’

Viewers couldn’t quite believe what they were watching and flocked to social media to unpack the scenes, slamming the musician for making the chat so uncomfortable.

Deadline reporter Jake Kanter wrote: ‘I see a day of potentially wild TV moments has started early. Within minutes of appearing on BBC News, Kid Rock’s interview descends into him hitting on host Caitríona Perry.’

Matt R fumed: ‘Why are the @BBCnews allowing cretins like Kid Rock on to lie unchecked and hit on news presenters?? A symptom of the decaying political leadership indeed. #BBCnews.’

James wrote: ‘I can’t believe I just listened to Kid Rock just perv over a journalist on the BBC, gotta be one of the most awkward things I’ve listened to in years [sic].’

‘The cringe was so real,’ Veronica Lloyd agreed.

As NotAPDFFile added: ‘Just heard Kid Rock call a BBC news reporter “sexy” and ask her out on LIVE television. #DonaldTrump.’

Elsewhere in the chat, Kid Rock shared his excitement for Trump’s return into office, suggesting that he will ‘straighten out the economy, get the border under control, make common sense decisions.

‘Just be a man for the people and straighten this stuff out that Joe Biden has ruined for the last few years.’

The All Summer Long star has been a longtime supporter of Trump, and previously performed on stage at the RNC.

Unpacking his decision to publicize his political views – at a time when most celebrities were vocally against the former Apprentice host – he told the Rolling Stone: ‘When I doubled down on it, I knew that could be a career-ender.

‘But I was betting that there were a lot of like-minded people out there … You think I like Trump because he’s a nice guy? I’m not electing the deacon of a church.

‘That motherf**ker likes to win. He likes to cheat in his f**king golf game. I want that guy on my team.’
