Netflix star feels ‘blessed to not be in a casket’ after being shot

A Netflix star has said he is ‘blessed to not be in a casket’ after being shot in the arm.

DeRon Horton is best known for starring in the comedy-drama series Dear White People, which ran from 2017 until 2021.

He’s also appeared in American Horror Story, Drunk History and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.

However, he’s now shared he came close to death last month after someone shot him through a car.

‘First off. I wanna give an honour to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones,” Horton, 32, began in his caption. He thanked everyone who checked on him, including his family and friends. “I love y’all, Thank you,’ he posted on Instagram.

‘Gettin shot a few days before Xmas def wasn’t on my wish list 😂🎅🏽,’ he continued.

The actor then explained the shooter had shot through the car ‘at me’, with the bullet breaking and shattering his arm.

‘But I’m Blessed dawg to not be in a casket or paralysed. Lord Thank You.’

Although he’s now been discharged from hospital, DeRon said he was still ‘healing’.

After having a plate and screw put in his arm, he now cannot work out which he is ‘mad about but it could have been worse’.

‘And I don’t need no sympathy I’m finna bounce right back I feel amazing,’ he added.

Wrapping up the post he concluded: ‘I just wanted to remind yall and myself to Keep God first! Stay Alert n Grateful for Everything. the devil can’t stop s— when you walk w God🙏🏽.’

The actor also posted a series of photo of his arm before and after he got stitches and a cast, as well as a snap of the X-Ray with an image of the bullet in his forearm.

Many people rushed to send their well-wishes, including several of his Dear White People co-stars.

Horton received a series of replies in the comment section of his post, including his Dear White People co-stars, Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins and Logan Browning.

‘Thank GOD for your life. I’m so so SO happy you’re ok,’ Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins commented.

‘Dear God, thank you for protecting my special Deron,’ Logan Browning shared.

Meanwhile his The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey co-star Samuel L. Jackson wrote: ‘Glad you’re still with us, Tuff Stuff!!! Good thing you’re covered by the All mighty. Hoping you heal quickly & painlessly as possible. Stay blessed.’
