Orange Is The New Black star Taryn Manning looks totally different over five years on from the Netflix series coming to an end.

The 46-year-old actor, based in Los Angeles, is best known for her role as evangelical Christian Tiffany ‘Pennsatucky’ Doggett in the long-running original series.

Although the star is a regular on red carpets and high-profile events until as recently as October 2024, new photos have shown a drastic transformation in recent weeks.

Manning is seen leaning on the boot of a car with a Trump/Vance sticker wearing a white hooded fleece, matching tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt which is merch for the 80s thrash band, Suicidal Tendencies.

They also have long, wet blonde hair and a pair of tinted sunglasses, looking rundown.

The Crossroads star also has the phrases ‘I am on my own journey, not yours’ and ‘Jesus is my saviour, protect my soul’ in her Instagram bio.

She has maintained a steady acting career since leaving Orange Is The New Black, most controversially starring in the 2021 horror-comedy Karen in which she played a racist white woman trying to oust her Black neighbours.

Her most recent movie was the horror-thriller Bloodline Killer which came out in 2024.

The star previously sparked concern after Orange Is The New Black came to a close for posting a since-deleted rant on social media claiming the ‘show hurt her more than anything else has in her life’. She later said she had been ‘epically hacked’.

Manning had a turbulent time filming Orange Is the New Black and in 2016 was sent to a psychiatric hospital after disruption on set, and has since had a sober companion.

During a chat on the Black Oxygen YouTube channel last week, she spoke about her first impressions of the character, all these years later.

‘When I first read it, she was like a Christian bigot, anti-gay, racist. I was like wow, I’m not going to make very many friends on this show or in public but it ended up being good because over the seven years, she made some really big changes,’ she reflected.

And in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 she also reflected on her relationship with substances and her own mental health.

‘I’ve never even seen methamphetamine. Nothing. Never. I’m not saying I’ve never done drugs. I’ve made it clear [on Instagram] that I used to do a bump [of cocaine] here and there, but not anymore. I call it the devil’s dandruff – can’t stand it,’ she said at the time.

‘The mental health thing, that is a very good question. Unless you’re a doctor, don’t diagnose me. I have the wherewithal to go to therapy on my own. I’m not in denial that I have depression. I am not. But do I think I’m mentally ill? Absolutely not.’

The same year she also alarmed followers after uploading a since-deleted video to Instagram detailing sexual acts she performed on a married man.

‘It was the most humiliating thing. I can’t explain it. It feels like it wasn’t me. It was a spiritual attack, and it changed my life to the point where I don’t really care anymore. I feel like nothing matters. Just live your life and say what you want,’ she said at the time.

Manning has no plans of slowing down, with five upcoming projects listed on the TV and film database, IMDb including Dragged Off, a film about a fictional forgotten iconic pop artist.
