The Traitors star Alexander Dragonetti has been pegged to appear in BBC competition Strictly Come Dancing.

On Friday night the chaotic final of season three saw Leanne and Jake win £94,600 as the two remaining faithfuls.

Tensions were high but fans loved the triumphant end for the duo after Alexander, Frankie, and Charlotte had all been evicted from the game.

Fans completely fell in love with this year’s cast and bookies have now revealed that a certain former British Diplomat might be set to appear on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Ladbrokes gave Alexander a 3/1 odds with a spokesperson commenting: ‘He’s undoubtedly one of the most iconic characters we’ve ever seen on The Traitors, and it looks like Alexander could soon be about to take on another huge BBC show in the shape of Strictly Come Dancing.’

In an interview with Metro, the 38-year-old star revealed that he’d be open to the opportunity, but clarified that he’s still very fresh off The Traitors hype.

‘I haven’t really thought about any of the future yet. I’m just getting to today was sort of all my energy just doing that. I would love to take any I’d love to sort of be open to any opportunities that come out as I love new things, and so let’s see.

‘But today is probably not the day to think about it too much.  I haven’t actually done any of that thinking if I’m honest, but you know, I love doing new things, so let’s see.’

If he does appear on the series he will be once again reunited with Claudia Winkleman who is the host for both The Traitors and Strictly.

The TV star has become a sex symbol as fans were immediately drawn to his good looks, kindness, and sense of humour. Alexander appears humbled by the response he’s had from fans.

‘I mean, it’s sort of been quite a whirlwind because I was, I was off the game for the first sort of week, and so I’ve only been sort of in it for two and a half weeks. In a way, I’ve been so grateful for the support.

‘I mean, it’s just been brilliant, and I put a little video on Instagram last night, but it’s been such a sort of whirlwind of a process, and the sort of that support has made it just so much more fun, and it’s so much more enjoyable, and sort of carried me through it, and I’ve loved it, and I’m so grateful to everybody for all that support. It’s been it’s been brilliant.’

Claudia apologised for revealing during the show that he is single, but Alexander insists that she can ‘do no wrong.’

‘I didn’t know that was coming. I saw it on TV along with everybody else. I was watching with a group of friends. “Oh, thanks, Claudia,” he jokes.

‘No, I don’t mind. No, no, Claudia. Claudia can do no wrong, right? So Claudia does it. It’s right. But no, not at all. But it was funny. It was a surprise.’

When asked if he’s had any fans slide into his DMs he laughs and replies shyly, ‘A few.’

During the series, Alexander revealed that if he won, he planned to donate his winnings to Mencap, a charity that provides support to people with disabilities and their families.

He said that he’s proud to have given a platform to this charity while on the show.

‘It would be one of the things that I would be most proud of – if not the thing I’d be most proud of – that I could use my experience to amplify that message and to bring support to that cause.

He then spoke briefly about his late brother, who died at the age of 17 and lived with disabilities.

‘Yeah, I think it’s important for me to say that it shaped me hugely being a sort of part of the care team for my brother because it was sort of my family unit was sort of there to make his life good one. I really think it was, and I’m really proud of that.

‘And so going through the show, it was sort of a driving motivation that that I draw great strength from that.’

The Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
