Fans of the Netflix show You have one karmic request for the fifth and final season arriving this spring after a two-year wait.

The psychological thriller series follows Joe (Penn Badgley), an outwardly charismatic book-lover who becomes obsessed with a string of women whose lives are in peril from the moment he sets eyes on them.

After starting in the Upper East Side in season one where he meets the ill-fated poetry student Beck, Joe travels to Los Angeles in season two where he falls for Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

But their relationship takes a turn for the worse in the third season, set in San Francisco, when Love’s extreme personality causes Joe to take even more extreme measures, and find a new victim – Marienne (Tati Gabrielle)

In another attempt to outrun his sketchy past, Joe arrives in London in season four where he meets Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie) but his true nature as a murderer once more comes to the fore, ending in him returning ‘back to where it all began’ with Kate – New York City.

Seven years, 40 episodes and four cities later, we have finally reached the end of the road as Joe’s story comes to a close in a fifth and final season.

It promises to be high-stakes, heart-pounding and ‘killer’ (Picture: Netflix)

The one-minute teaser released by Netflix begins with Joe’s quintessential internal monologue as he adjusts back to the Big Apple.

The narration continues: ‘A lot has happened these many years together. Identities, cities, loves, complications,’ as images of his victims from over the years flash by.

‘But all that led me here, to now, to where I was always meant to be. And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me is you,’ he says as the lights flick onto his plastic prison and all the people who have been trapped there.

‘Goodbye, you,’ the ominous teaser finishes, with a final message promising a ‘killer finale’.

But there’s only one person fans want to see dead in the new episodes and that is Joe Goldberg himself.

Viewers have not held back in expressing their desire to see the psychopath get his just desserts and meet an untimely end like he has doled out to so many others.

And perhaps it would be the most fitting end of all, especially after Love came so close.

‘Hopefully he gets killed off PLEASE,’ @prupruuu0 wrote on X.

‘He better f**king die at the end bro. This dude can’t be allowed to live anymore…’ @rogelionumero3 said.

‘Praying that Joe finally gets killed, by a woman preferably,’ @slshrs shared.

‘Finallyyyy i need to see Joe’s downfall so bad,’ @audreycressweill echoed.

‘HE’S FINALLY GONNA DIE YIPEE,’ @stutuzs celebrated.

And many more fans shared their excitement at getting one last dose of this edge-of-your-seat drama, declaring they were ‘excited’, ‘sat’ and devastated’ it was finally over.

‘Every season they manage to find new space to make it interesting and relevant’ The Gossip Girl star told Tudum last year.

‘And this season, I think somehow coming back to where it started allowed for it to just become grounded in the way that it needs to also have this kind of spectacular finish.’

Executive producer Michael Foley added: ‘We always said that we would stop after five and [that], in a perfect world, we would bring Joe back home to New York.

‘We loved the idea of things coming full circle for him. We’re excited by the fact that Joe came home as such a different person than [who] we saw in Season One. At the core of our final story for Joe is this dichotomy of the old and the new.’

As well as Penn and Charlotte, the new season will also feature Bronte (Madeline Brewer), a playwright and Joe’s newest bookstore employee; Griffin Matthews as Joe’s brother-in-law Teddy Lockwood and Anna Camp playing both of Joe’s twin sisters-in-law, Raegan and Maddie.

But with a haunting past and uncertain future, how exactly will this play out? As they say… let the chaos ensue.

You season five arrives on Netflix on April 24, 2025.
