Reports of a backstage ‘meltdown’ from Ferne McCann after her unexpected Dancing On Ice elimination have been shut down.

The former Towie star, 34, became the second celebrity eliminated from the ITV competition on Sunday night, much to the fury of viewers.

After it was revealed that Ferne and pro partner Brendyn Hatfield had been given the axe, fans took to X to brand the show a ‘joke’.

Much of their anger stemmed from the fact that there wasn’t a skate-off, meaning the couple with the lowest combined viewer votes and judges’ points would leave immediately without a chance to save themselves.

Earlier today, it was claimed that Ferne took her exit very badly, with The Sun writing that she felt ‘humiliated’ after performing a lively Trolls-inspired routine for her daughter, Sunday, in honour of Movie Night.

The publication claimed that the reality star ‘cried hysterically’ after filming ended, with a source adding: ‘Ferne kept saying, “This doesn’t make sense” and, “It wasn’t meant to be like this”.’

They also alleged that Ferne ‘couldn’t understand how she didn’t get the votes—despite having the most followers online.’

‘It was made even worse that she was voted out on the night she was dressed like a troll. She feels humiliated.’

However, the allegations of a backstage temper tantrum have now been quashed, with a source explaining to Metro that Ferne was more concerned with comforting firstborn Sunday, seven.

In fact, it was the sight of her daughter crying that reduced the First Time Mum star to floods of tears.

‘Backstage, Ferne burst into tears when her mum brought a tearful Sunday in to see her,’ the source told us.

‘Ferne quickly pulled herself together, cheered up Sunday, and was in really good spirits when she went out to meet all her friends and family.’

‘She’s loved doing the show and has had a great time,’ they added of her Dancing On Ice experience.

Indeed, Ferne had a gracious reaction when quizzed by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern on how she felt after being voted out.

Ferne began by saying she was ‘so gutted’ to be leaving the show so early.

She added: ‘We were having so much fun; I’m really sad.

‘Brendyn, you’ve been amazing; thank you so much. It’s been brilliant. So fantastic.’

Meanwhile, fans took to X to blast the outcome, arguing that ‘skipping the skate-off is a ridiculous idea’.

Several have even threatened to switch off completely now, as the programme continues to eliminate the wrong acts.

Ferne scored 28 points out of a possible 40 for her routine to September by Earth, Wind & Fire but received high praise from the judges.

Her elimination followed that of Hollyoaks actress Chelsee Healey the previous week, a result that also caused viewers to lash out at the format.

There was another unexpected exit this weekend, as comedian Josh Jones was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

Josh, 32, was due to perform again alongside pro skater Tippy Packard during Movie Night, which featured numbers from Barbie, Deadpool, Ghost, and more.
