Earlier this month The Traitors season 3 kicked off with a massive twist that saw three contestants fail to make it to the castle right away.

This time around, the premiere episode saw the group being forced to choose three of their own to boot off a train on their travels to the Scottish Highlands.

Although two eventually re-entered the game, they then had to faces the challenges, murders and banishments as the rest.

Throughout the series, the group spend their days at Ardross Castle in Alness, north of Inverness, battling it out for their share of £120,000.

Viewers love to speculate about many details of the game, each year they also question whether the contestants go at night and if they get to live like kings and queens in the castle?

Here’s everything we know…

Where do The Traitors stay overnight?

When the gong sounds each night, the contestants are sent to their sleeping quarters. Although according to Alan Cumming, who hosts the US version of the series (which is also filmed in Ardross castle) they don’t just get to walk upstairs, they are instead transported to a different location.

‘Spoiler alert: None of us stayed in the castle. None of us,’ he told Daily Beast.

‘They [the contestants] all stayed in the airport hotel in the Inverness airport. How glamorous—you come to Scotland, and you stay in the Inverness airport hotel.’

He continued: ‘I stayed in a little house in Inverness. But I had a room in the castle where I would get made up and dressed. It had a huge bed in it. So I did actually sleep quite often, but not overnight.’

So, basically, while our host, Claudia Winkleman, isn’t staying at the airport hotel… Ross is. It’s not just him, he’ll also joined by the other contestants, but we can’t resist any opportunity to quote Diane.

While Ardross Castle was built in the 19th century in the Scottish baronial style and boasts formal gardens and 100 acres of parkland on the banks of the River Alness, the Inverness Airport hotel is part of the Courtyard by Marriott chain.

Claudia, 51, has previously marvelled at the beauty of the castle: ‘It felt sometimes like we were in a painting if that’s not too cheesy.

‘On day two, we saw a double rainbow and everyone was like oh my gosh, and the crew were crying, there were baby deer, there was beautiful heather, there were ancient trees, and an ancient loch.’
